Water Damage Repair

There is a myriad of situations that can result in your home being exposed to water damage and in need of water damage repair. Even the best preventative measures can still leave you exposed. Some very innocuous situations can result in water damage so pervasive that it requires the installation of new flooring, replacement of furniture and the hanging of new drywall or renovation of ceilings.

Basements

Basements are a common location for water damage and, if unfinished, may require less costly water damage repair than other areas of your home that have carpeting, drywall and insulation. Back and side yards that have not been leveled properly can lead to water damage in your basement or foundation as rain and excess lawn water collect and pool in the lowest spot underneath your home. Plumbing problems with burst or leaking pipes can cause water damage. Proper grading of your lawn, the addition of ground drainage and new pipes can all help avoid water damage repair.

Other Causes

Other causes of water damage are leaky roofs and humidity, requiring water damage repair. Water coming in to your home from a leaky roof or humidity and condensation can cause your walls, floors, ceilings, window frames and furniture to warp and become unsalvageable. It can also produce a perfect breeding ground for mold spores, which grow at a rapid rate and can be toxic. Mold spores can be responsible for causing a multitude of respiratory and neurological problems and mold remediation should be undertaken immediately.

Leaking or broken appliances may lead to harmful water damage such as when washing machines, dishwashers, ice makers and toilets overflow or leak. The chemical and waste-filled grey water that is found in these appliances can create a toxic environment for your family. Refrigerators with water filtration systems can develop leaks in the hoses that run from your water line to the refrigerator. Small leaks that go unnoticed for a long period of time can cause erosion in your foundation, hazardous living conditions and mold proliferation.

The Best Water Damage Solution

Your best solution to combating and repairing damage caused by any kind of water is to call a water damage repair specialist. They have the tools and the knowledge necessary to clean and complete water damage repair effectively and safely.
