Keep a shining floor – remove the stains!

I am very meticulous when it comes to cleanliness, especially in my home. I wax my hardwood floors every Saturday just to keep shiny for the whole week. However, along the week, unwanted stains occur and it is inevitable. At first I do not have any idea how to remove the stain in it. This was my problem since I switch to hardwood floors just last year. So I ask some of my friends how to remove these unwanted stains.

Here’s what they recommend to me:

  • For mild water stains, rubbed the area using the type 2 steel wool
  • For hard stains, sandpapers is probably the best option. After that, use steel wool type 1 or 0 with the help of mineral spirits. Follow the cleaning with the refinishing of the floor area.
  • Cigarette burn stains can be removed by scrubbing it with steel wool moistened with amounts of soap and water.
  • Heels and caster marks can be removed by scrubbing it with steel wool soaked in floor cleaner, then polished the floor again.
  • For ink stains, steel wooltype2 with floor cleaners is applicable.
  • Scoff marks can be removed with damp sponge soaked with baking soda solution.
  • Food stains can be removed by wiping it with a damp cloth.
After removing the stains, it is now easy to re-polish the floor again. With these simple tips, I don’t have to worry anymore because I know what to do when stains occurs in my floor.
